Blue Vervain — Verbena hastata — is one of the most respected nervine herbs in North American botanical medicine and has been used by Native American tribes across the eastern United States for centuries as a calming, stress-relieving, and "releasing" herb. The Iroquois, Ojibwe, and many other tribes used it both medicinally and ceremonially. European Vervain — Verbena officinalis — has an even longer history, considered sacred by the ancient Druids, Romans, and Egyptians.

The Druids held Vervain in the same sacred regard as Mistletoe — gathering it ceremonially at specific phases of the moon. Ancient Romans used it to purify temple altars. Traditional Native American healers used Blue Vervain specifically as a herb for releasing pent-up tension and "uptightness" from the body — an herb for those who carry too much and need to let go.

Druid sacred herb. Native American tension release. Ancient on every continent.

Brew 10 minutes. Bitter — add honey. Particularly recommended for those who tend to hold stress in the neck, jaw, and shoulders. Drink in the evening.
